Interview: An Inspiring Soccer Champ

Hello! I am so sorry I haven’t posted in a while. This is an interview with one of my very successful friends – Mikayla. She has really been inspiring to me and I hope she will be for you as well.

How long have you been playing soccer?
  •  9 years 
Where did you begin playing?
  •  Guthrie Soccer at Bob Jones
Where are you playing now?
  •  For South Carolina and eastside high school varsity ladies team

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments?

  • Becoming MVP (most valuable player) in my 2013 Furman soccer team and in 2013 going to regional

What is the thing that inspired you to play soccer?

  • The United States women’s national team. Particularly Sydney Ruleroux, Abby Wabash and Alex Morgan have really inspired me.

Biggest goals and hopes for your soccer career?

  • Being on the USA woman’s national team.

What do you do in intense training weeks?

  • 3340514b-2e57-4956-ab4e-b5bd0ae4bc39Conditioning:
    • 300 jump ropes
    • 20 abb kicks from push up position
    • 200 jump ropes
    • 20 abb kicks opposite elbow
    • 100 jump ropes
    • 20 invisible bar sit-ups
    • Rest 1 minute
    • And repeat for a total of three timed rounds
  • Strength:
    • Single leg squats and chair 3 x 10 each leg
    • Single leg hip bridge 3 x 10 each leg
    • 100 push ups with out rest 
What pushes you to keep going?
  • Knowing that when it all comes down to the end, I won’t remember all those days that I pushed myself to the limit. I’m gong to remember when my team goes to state and when we win each game, and the memories that come along with it.

    This is so cool! She does more strength training than me but I’ve been playing for like 7-8 years and I started @ Gutherie also=) I was going to be on a varsity team but that fell through so now I’m on an under 14 age group of girls=( This is getting to easy I need something harder;)
