Anne of Green Gables (Movie 1)

  • Author: Lucy Maude Montgomery (1874-1942)
  • Movie: see trailer below

Description: Anne is a red-headed very dramatic orphan that is always getting herself into trouble. When somebody finally takes her in she is mistaken for a boy and is threatened to be sent back to the orphanage. However Anne has already made Green Gables her home. When Anne makes a bosom friend they spend all the time they have together, whether it’s going through imaginary haunted forests or catching cows in nosy old Rachel Lyn’s crops.

What I Like: One of my favorite dramatic sayings from Anne: ” Muffins do not help a girl whose world is crumbling around her!” I have read an Anne of Green Gables book, but it was not the first one and I didn’t like it very much. I might try reading the first book.  There is also movie two and three. Movie two is highly recommended but number three is more for adults. 🙂

Score: Movie 1 definitely gets 5 of 5 stars.

I’d love to hear what you think…

Mandie Books

  • Series: Mandie Books
  • Author: Lois Gladys Leppard
  • Publisher: Bethany House Publishers

Description: A series of mystery stories about a girl named Mandie Shaw (apprx. 11-13 years old) who lives with her Uncle John and her mother Elizabeth (her father has passed away). There is also a Mandie movie (see preview below).

What I Like: I like the main character because she is a Christian girl. Mandie loves to solve mysteries….like I do. I feel like I’m in all of the adventures with her. I will sometimes read a whole book in just one night. The Mandie movie is also good.

What I Would Improve: Nothing

Score: 5 of 5 (Highly Recommended)

The Mandie Collection, Volume 1: Mandie and the Secret Tunnel/Mandie and the Cherokee Legend/Mandie and the Ghost Bandits/Mandie and the Forbidden Attic/Mandie and the Trunk's Secret (Mandie 1-5)
